Journal Entry: Wed Sep 3, 2008, 2:48 PM
I got a HP PC about two days ago, its waaaayy better than my other tower I have, and I am still working out the kinks. It came with three RAM sticks equaling 1024 MB,80 gigs of space, a very good video card, one CD drive and one DVD drive. I am extremly happy with my new toy, I mean PC,^_^;. also my new art design, I got stuck on how to make it look... I'm not sure what to put where, so it'll be delayed for a bit till I can figure out how I wanna make it look. so how have you all been???

It also depends on the tree type too, some are just more sensitive to neglect than the tougher breeds from harsher climates. A popular first choice for a bonsai-beginner (and what my first was) is a "Chinese juniper" tree. the have small, blue-green spikey leaves, like tiny pine needles. The grow slowly which means you don't have to keep trimming it eveyr few weeks and repotting it every year too, and they can handle heat and cold pretty well. Got my Juniper about 6 years ago and still have it ;)

Well, we all make mistakes, I've had a few unfortunate deatsh before. The most common mistake is that many think that their small size means they are indoor plants, but really, they are made from actual tree species after all, so they need to be exposed to the conditions they would face outside...fresh air, lots of sun and seasonal change (especially for deciduous trees like maples that seasonally change colour and shed their leavesm or flowering trees like cherry blossoms and azaleas which flower at certain times only). They can be kept inside for a few days for display purposes, but they are intended to be left outside  (a few exceptions apply for commonly bonsai-ed "ficus" trees which have to be indoors especially in winter because they are tropical)

But being outside has its dangers, if the weather is hot and dry in Summer, a small bonsai could dry out in a day, so it may need to be watered in both the morning and afternoon. And all trees need much less water in winter too, perhaps no more than once a week (I noticed you live in CA, and I think your winters aren't that bad right? kinda like mine) So at least extreme cold and snow won't be a problem there :sun: Finally, try not to leave them out in the sun all day long, especially in summer, a parly shaded area (like under a shadecloth or under another in-ground tree) would be best. Fully kept in shade is just as bad as being left out in the sun too...Yes, they are very picky

Oh yeah, got lots of bonsai trees, many are small and not so impressive. But I can't afford a really big and nice one yet...nor would I have room for it :p they do require more attention than regular, pot-plants, but some make it out as if they have an extra child lol...it's not that bad ;)
